These pedals are great! So much more room for my feet making it easier to pedal.
Physician. Aging athlete obsessed withfunctional strength training and biomechanics but also I just love to mountain bike. I know have a set on every mtb. The power increase Climbing seated is just wonderful with so much less knee strain. But the surprise was how locked in I feel on the downhill and in the air and climbing standing. I much prefer this version with the better screws but I prefer this type on every pedal. The ones that screw in directly from the top lock in a bit too much to 5.10 style sticky rubber limiting quick foot reposition and that also much harder to swap out if they get banged up. I do recommend a little Loctite when installing because otherwise you will lose a few along the way.
If you are someone who has done some Jim work with hip hinging type exercises these will make even more immediate intuitive sense for you. The efficiency gains easily outweigh any weight penalty. I swapped from to flats 10 years ago after decades clipped in andand that was a challenging transition that took effort and persistence buthad payoff. This took about 3 to 5 rides but I can imagine if you were coming directly frombeing clipped in it’s going to take you 10+ rides and I would strongly suggest reviewing and practicing videos of flat pedal technique drills.
And yes they are expensive. I hope he can scale up the business to make them more affordable but for right now they’re the splurge I need for every bike.
Love the pedals, thanks!
